Congratulations to all of our graduates! We are so proud of you and look forward to hearing about all of your future successes. This is truly an accomplishment especially considering you spent most of your high school year tackling covid. We are so proud of your perserverance and know that you can do anything you put your minds towards doing!
Thank you to our community sponsors for our scholarships. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have a community that supports us so very much. We know that you have made a great investment in our students.

As we are preparing for the graduation ceremonies, we would like to ask graduates to consider applying for special awards. The criteria for each award is explained below.
IMPORTANT: There are some awards in which you apply directly to the school through the MCHS Awards Committee and others in which you must apply directly to the organization.
Please note, that if you are applying to the MCHS Awards Committee, you will be considered for all awards that are decided at the school level. However, you may state which awards you feel you are most specifically suited in your email before December 12th. Likewise, all students are considered for all awards but the application process greatly helps the committee in making decisions. Also, please do not forget that for some awards you must apply directly to the company/organization.

SPECIAL AWARDS FOR CAP AND GOWN 2021-22
C&W Industrial and Marine Fabrication Scholarship
Valued at $2000.
Students must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and have graduated with an Academic or Honours Graduation Status
Preference given to students enrolled in a post-secondary program in the field of Engineering, Welding or Marine related field.
Students must apply directly to Scholarship@cwindustrial.com. Criteria for award application is to the right. Deadline to apply is December 23rd, 2022

PLEASE NOTE: The deadline to apply for the C&W Award is December 23rd, 2022 and NOT December 31st.
Linda Cahill Award
$100 scholarship
Has demonstrated perseverance and determination while working to achieve his or her potential.
Students may apply to MCHS awards committee via karabourgeois@nlesd.ca. You should use the above awards sheet and include a cover letter and resume. Deadline is December 12th.
Alexandra Williams Memorial Award
Awarded to a student who has achieved athletic and academic ability and school spirit. Preference will be given to students who play hockey.
$100 scholarship
Donated by the Southern Shore Minor Hockey Association.

The David Emberley Award
Presented to a level III student who has demonstrated academic achievement and outstanding contribution to the school community
$300 scholarship

Rowena Harvey-Casey Memorial Award
This is awarded to a student who exemplifies kindness and accomplishes this through the gift of music, drama, and/or public speaking.
$100 scholarship

Volunteer Award
Sponsored by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
Designed to recognize one senior high student in every school in the province for the contribution that student has made to his or her community or school.
Scholarship amount to be determined

Ace's Bursary Education Fund for Determined Kids
The recipient is someone who has learned to persevere through any challenge. Applicants must currently be enrolled in a post-secondary program. Preference will be given, but not limited, to the following post-secondary studies.
Award #1 – Studies in such areas as Small Engine Repair, Heavy Equipment Operations or Maintenance, Carpentry, etc
Award #2 – Studies in such areas as Business, Marketing, Research, Entrepreneurship, Engineering, Technology, etc
Applicants must write and submit a 500 word essay demonstrating how he or she demonstrated the values of tenacity, courage and determination through their school years to become eligible for enrollment in a post-secondary program.

Bradley D. Walsh Memorial Scholarship
The recipient of the Bradley D. Walsh Memorial Scholarship is a person who is a true friend, who is kind, lives their best life possible, and makes the world a little brighter every day.
The recipient of the award is given to a person planning to attend post secondary school and is in the amount of $500.

BBBAA Volunteer Leadership Award
Must have made a positive and significant contribution to their community through volunteerism, displayed a capacity for leadership, and a commitment to their personal wellness through athletics and a commitment to academic achievement.
Valued at $100.
Weighted with 50% for Community Volunteerism/Leadership, 30% for academic achievement and 20% for Athleticism.
